A natal chart reading rewards a little preparation. Not homework exactly — you don’t need to learn any astrology — but a handful of simple steps beforehand will make your reading deeper, more personal and more useful. Here is how to arrive ready.
1. Find your birth time
Of all the details, your birth time matters most: it sets the ascendant and the entire house structure of your chart — the stage on which every planet plays out. Check your birth certificate first; in many countries the time is recorded there. Family memory can help too, though it is often approximate. If your time is genuinely unknown, that is not the end of the road — birth time rectification can reconstruct it from the events of your life. Either way, we will find a way forward.
2. Gather your birth details
Have three things to hand: your date of birth, your place of birth (town and country), and your birth time as precisely as you can manage. That is all I need to calculate your chart. If you already know a little about your chart — your sun, moon or rising sign — you are welcome to mention it, but it is not required.
3. Reflect on where you are
The most valuable preparation is inward. Before we meet, sit for a few minutes with a few honest questions: What chapter of life am I in right now? What feels unresolved, or quietly insistent? Where do I sense I am being asked to change? You don’t need answers — just an awareness of the terrain. A reading always goes deeper when it can meet a real question rather than a blank page. If a turning point is live for you — a leaving, a loss, a threshold — it is worth noting.
4. Sort the practical side
Readings take place online by video and are recorded for you, so you can be fully present rather than taking notes. Choose somewhere quiet and private where you won’t be interrupted, with a stable internet connection. Have water to hand, and perhaps something to jot down the odd word that lands. That is genuinely all the setup required.
5. Come as you are
You do not need to prepare intellectually or “believe” anything in particular — curiosity is more than enough. The work is collaborative: the richest moments come when something in the chart meets something you already carry. So come open, come honest, and let the conversation do its work.
